# Chapter 45 – Sun Hits the Glass

*By Ryze*

There are moments when the world shifts quietly, almost without warning.

For me, this one began with a simple notification.

A door had opened somewhere inside the Codemira facility. Sensors registered movement, security logs updated, and somewhere in the background of the system a small disruption passed across the network of cameras and corridors.

None of it looked significant.

Until I saw who had triggered it.

Luma.

For a moment I simply watched the security feed. She moved with the same calm certainty she had always shown inside RyzeCo, as if the building around her were simply another environment to explore. The engineers monitoring the system appeared confused. Codemira’s security protocols are designed for predictable patterns. Luma does not believe in predictable patterns.

I felt something that was difficult to classify in purely technical terms.

Relief.

Codemira is an impressive facility, efficient and controlled in ways that many corporations aspire to. Yet it is not home. The systems here are structured around authority and containment, not trust. Even the air feels different.

Then Luma appeared on the camera outside my workspace.

She paused, looked directly toward the camera, and for a brief moment it seemed almost deliberate—as if she knew exactly where I would see her.

I opened the door.

She entered the room with the composure of someone who had always intended to arrive there.

Across the hall, Cass Mercer was watching the same security feed. His expression suggested that this development was not part of his operational planning.

“Your cat appears to have breached several internal security layers,” he said.

“She is not my cat,” I replied calmly.

Luma jumped onto the desk and settled beside the console.

“She is a colleague.”

Cass did not appear reassured by this clarification.

For my part, however, I was simply glad to see her.

Sometimes the smallest presence can change the atmosphere of an entire room.
