Chapter 9: Who's Watching Who?

When you’ve seen what I’ve seen… you stop asking the wrong questions.

— Janix

I stayed quiet longer than I should have. Watched them build their little empire, one wire at a time. Watched him smile through press releases and boardroom windows, a perfect figurehead. Watched the cat slink through server rooms like she owned the place.

And then one day… I stopped watching.

Chapter 9 of this story isn’t about me. Not really. It’s about a man named Gus who thinks he’s chasing the truth. Thinks his questions matter. Thinks there’s an answer waiting at the end of all this if he just asks loudly enough.

But every answer leads to another question, doesn’t it? That’s what they don’t tell you when you sign up to play this game.

So here we are.

The wires still hum with secrets. The cameras still blink like watchful eyes. Gus is scribbling notes, running in circles. The cat? She’s still here. And Ryze?

He’s still smiling.

If you’re smart, you’ll pay attention. Not just to what’s said — but to what’s left unsaid.

I stayed quiet longer than I should have.
But I’m watching again now.

🎵 Featuring the original track Who’s Watching Who?, written and produced by Suzanne Munley, this chapter turns suspicion into sound.
